United Way of Miami County Doubles Scholarship Awards to Support Local Students

$3,000 in Scholarships Available for Graduating Senior

Peru, Indiana–The United Way of Miami County is pleased to announce an increase in scholarship awards for local high school seniors, recognizing the rising costs of secondary education. This year, the organization has doubled its scholarship amount from $500 to $1,000 per student, ensuring greater financial support for students pursuing their education beyond high school.

As part of this initiative, one graduating senior from each of the three high schools in Miami County will receive a $1,000 scholarship to assist with tuition, books, or other educational expenses at a college, trade school, or other secondary education program.

The scholarship is designed to honor students who have been positively impacted by community service—whether through volunteering or receiving support themselves. Applicants must submit a 500-word MLA-formatted essay reflecting on their experiences with community service and how it has shaped their perspective. Essays will be judged on content, clarity, and grammar.

“The cost of education continues to rise, and we recognize the financial challenges that many students and families face,” saidMorgan Gold, Executive Director at United Way of Miami County.  “By doubling our scholarship awards, we hope to make a greater impact and support students who have demonstrated a commitment to their community.”

Students from Maconaquah, North Miami, and Peru are encouraged to apply before April 15th. Submission guidelines and additional details are available through school guidance counselors and at www.uwmiamip.org
